Anthony Albanese, the leader of the Labor party is forecast to win enough seats to hold power in the 2025 election, becoming the first prime minister in two decades to win consecutive elections.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. has projected the Labor Party will win a majority of seats in the parliament. The final seat count is expected to take days and will only be announced once the Australian Electoral Commission declares final results for all electorates.

The result is a major victory for Albanese, who had been trailing the Coalition in opinion polls for months and was widely expected to be forced into minority government at this election. However a bounce back in opinion polling following the start of the campaign saw the prime minister’s stocks rise. The result solidifies Albanese’s legacy as a hero in the Labor Party and will give him authority to stamp his mark on the government and the country.

Since 2022, there has been a redistribution of electorates by the independent Australian Electoral Commission. There are now 150 seats to be won — 46 in New South Wales, 38 in Victoria, 30 in Queensland, 16 in Western Australia, 10 in South Australia, five in Tasmania, three in the Australian Capital Territory and two in the Northern Territory.

Both New South Wales and Victoria had a seat abolished (one held by Labor, one held by an independent lawmaker) while Western Australia had a new seat created.

One of the Coalition's must-win seats. Labor took this former Coalition stronghold in 2022 for only the second time in history, and holds it by a razor-thin margin.

Labor stronghold which the Coalition has long hoped to win. Dutton has pushed a tough-on-crime narrative in this electorate, especially in the major city of Alice Springs.

Albanese has worked hard to hold this seat, even legislating to save the local salmon industry and changing his candidate. A loss here will show Labor's red wall is cracking.

Aston, VIC

The loss of Aston at a by-election in 2023 was Dutton's lowest point as Liberal leader. This seat will be seen as a bellweather for the Coalition in Victoria, where they must pick up seats.

New seat in Western Australia, where Labor won its majority in 2022. Both sides are confident, but a win by Dutton could be the start of a Coalition rebound in the mining state.
