A watchdog office tasked with hearing complaints about the federal government’s handling of unaccompanied migrant children has been kneecapped by the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency push to slash the federal workforce.
It’s one of several signs of a shift under President Donald Trump in how the federal government deals with immigrant children who enter the US alone. Legal services providers say a stop work order has also frozen legal representation of the unaccompanied kids.
