Namibia Power Utility Seeks 17% Tariff Hike to Tackle Costs

Namibia’s state-owned power utility has asked its regulator for permission to raise tariffs by 17% in the coming financial year to counter rising import costs, delayed projects, and financial strain.

Officials from NamPower Ltd. met the Electricity Control Board in the capital, Windhoek, on Wednesday saying a weaker exchange rate made imports of electricity from neighboring South Africa and Zambia more expensive.
