Emerging Currencies Cap Sixth Week of Gains as Dollar Slumps
A gauge of emerging-market currencies capped its sixth week of gains, extending the rally Friday after President Donald Trump’s renewed tariff threats sent investors rushing out of US assets.
Currencies from Asia and the South African rand outperformed, while Brazil’s real led Latin American gains as the US dollar fell to the lowest level since 2023. Meantime, the index for emerging-market stocks rallied.
