Embraer Says Impact of Trump Tariffs Could Rival Covid
Embraer SA’s stock sunk to a session low after Chief Executive Officer Francisco Gomes Neto said the aircraft manufacturer could revise its business plan if Donald Trump’s tariffs are implemented.
The financial burden on the aircraft manufacturer could reach 20 billion reais ($3.6 billion) by 2030 if the 50% tariffs against all Brazilian goods are implemented, Neto said on Tuesday in an interview with journalists. The higher tariffs, which Neto said amounted to an “embargo,” would hit the company’s cash position and hiring, with workforce impacts that could be similar to those seen during the pandemic.
