Michael Lohscheller has gone from one of the oldest car brands in Europe to one of the newest, and in his job as head of Polestar Automotive Holding, he’s navigating an industry that’s being roiled by Donald Trump’s plans to redraw the global automotive map.

Leading the offshoot of Sweden’s Volvo Car AB, the former boss of Opel presented an ambitious plan for a turnaround, as the company struggles with cash burn and slow sales. The electric-car maker controlled by Chinese billionaire Li Shufu has lost more than 90% of its value since its 2022 listing at the peak of the craze to identify the next Tesla Inc.
