Why Are Celebrities Selling Their Watches?
Tom Brady and Sylvester Stallone have auctioned off millions of dollars worth of timepieces this year—and not for any particular cause. What’s going on?

It was great to see a bunch of you last week at our events at Phillips and Sotheby’s in New York, previewing their big timepiece sales. (Non-New Yorkers, I received your feedback that you’d like to have club events elsewhere, and we’re working on it!)
We got to see the very cool double-chiming Philippe Dufour watch at Phillips, which was expected to sell for $2 million and ended up going for $3.7 million. And we got to try on some of Tom Brady’s watches before the big Sotheby’s G.O.A.T. sale of his memorabilia on Tuesday. The latter sale ended up totaling $9 million, which was just barely above its $8.9 million high estimate.
